    1. The first step for applying for Social Security Disability is filing an application with the Social Security Administration. Our experienced Social Security Disability attorneys and their support staff will work hard to get this done.
    2. If your claim is approved, you will begin to receive monthly benefits. However, if your claim is denied MDASR will begin an appeal process on your behalf.
    3. The first appeal is called “Reconsideration” and will be decided by an analyst with the Social Security Administration.
    4. If your claim is denied again, MDASR can request a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. It may take upwards of a year from the time of appeal before a hearing is held.
    5. If the decision made by the judge is favorable, you will begin receiving benefits shortly thereafter. If you appeal is denied, it can be appealed further to the Appeals Council.
