“A Look at OSHA’s Top 10 Safety Violations” – Becky Pinto

Insurance Journal • June 8, 2022

On June 8, 2022, Becky Pinto published an article in Insurance Journal, “A Look at OSHA’s Top 10 Safety Violations.” Pinto begins her article by discussing that workers’ compensation claims result directly from conditions in the workplace. OSHA ensures that safety violations are addressed whenever a WC claim is submitted due to a workplace injury. OSHA listed the top 10 safety standard violations in this article from 2021 to shed light on creating safe workspaces to better protect employees.

The most common violations in Workers’ Compensation work environment cases for 2021 were: Fall protection, respiratory protection, ladders, scaffolds, hazard communication, lockout/tag out, fall protection training requirements, eye and face protection, powered industrial trucks, and machine guarding.

OSHA encourages employers to ensure proper protocols, employee training, and reviewing safety measures are in place so that all of their employees understand how to avoid injury to the best of their ability in the workplace.
